My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bio Update 2/08/13: Benji has been through some extensive testing, but we still don’t know exactly what is wrong with him. It appears to be his gastrointestinal tract as his urinalysis is normal. We are trying a new medication and a lowfat diet, and he is doing better. Please consider making a donation for this little guy as his testing is very expensive, and he is so sweet he deserves the best care we can give him. Stay tuned and we will post updates on his condition.
Hi, Benji here! I have been in my foster home for 2 weeks and I sure am feeling better! I spent several days at the vet having tests and now I am on a special diet and some new medicine and my tummy is feeling better! I have gained a half a pound and I really like my new food! Now that I am feeling better foster mom says we have to work on getting me to “do all my business outside!” I am not exactly sure what that means, but evidently that is a really big deal! I have been on some walks with my foster brothers and sisters this week and that was so fun! FM says I do really good on a leash. Also she says I am such a good boy about minding and taking my meds. She is sure I will have my own furever home very soon. Maybe you need a little fur baby like me that just needs a little TLC and some help with housetraining?

Initial Bio 1/27/13: Benji was left in a crate on the steps of a high kill shelter. He was severely emaciated, and had very bad gastrointestinal issues. United Yorkie Rescue got the call and he was rescued on 1-25-13 and taken straight to the vet. He appears to be healthy except for the stomach problems. He was placed on a special diet, given some IV fluids, and two different medicines. He is heartworm negative, and his fecal was negative for all normal parasites and worms. He weighs 5 pounds and is approximately 6 years old. We will be focusing on getting him well and getting some weight on him (probably around 7 pounds). After that he will be neutered and have his doggy dental as his teeth are in pretty bad shape. He is not housebroken, but doesn’t seem to mind wearing a belly band. We will be working on getting him to do his business outside.

He is a very sweet, loving dog that likes nothing better than to curl up and go to sleep in your lap. He gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters. He has a beautiful two toned coat - he is dark colored from his head to the middle of his back, and from there to his tail he is blonde! It is a very striking contrast. Stay tuned as we get to know him better!
