My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Deja is a young girl approximately a year old who was brought into the shelter in very bad shape physically. Although she was a strong and healthy young dog, she still needed some TLC and a bit of special care to get her to the point where she was ready to find her new home. Deja is a typical Boxer and is fun, affectionate, very playful and ready for anything. She is full grown at this point and weighs 50 lbs. She is loving her new lease on life and can't wait to find her new family.

Here is what her foster mom had to say:

Deja is a beautiful medium size dog who needs some TLC. She came to me in pretty rough shape however with proper medical treatment and a few treated baths she is doing well! Deja's coat is much better, but would benefit from some good quality dog food and a few more conditioning baths.

When Deja came to our home she had minimal house manners. She is now very well behaved. She doesn't jump up on counters, she does not chew anything that doesn't belong to her and she has minimal interest in human food. Deja knows how to come extremely well! She can be at the total opposite end of our house and when called she comes running! She can also sit, we make her sit before receiving her food and before exiting her crate. She also knows off and no (Leave it). Deja is on her way to being house trained, but is still learning how to signal us that she needs to go out. We are currently trying to train Deja to use a bell to tell us when she needs to go outside. Deja does great in her crate. She is put in her crate over night and while we are at work. She does whine for the first few minutes, but then settles into a quiet sleep. Deja never fights going into the crate and gets a little treat when she goes in on her own. She is well trained in a flat collar on leash. She doesn't pull much and responds well to "here". Deja also comes when let off leash. Deja has no running instinct. She is happy to be where you are. She rode extremely well in the car. She jumps right in with you and sleeps most of the ride.

Deja is very well socialized. She is good with all other none aggressive dogs and loves people. I am sure she would do well with children, but might knock over small children. She no aggressive behaviours. I can take food, toy treat away with no problem. She also shows no sign of aggression when getting her nails trimmed. Deja is great with other dogs! She is always excited to meet new dogs. She really likes to be with people and is friendly with everyone. Deja loves to cuddle on the couch and play with her other boxer buddy.

Deja has a moderate energy level. She enjoys running around and playing, but is also extremely happy lazing on the couch. She will bark when people come to the door, but other than that is very quiet in the house.

Deja is a beautiful and unique brindle colour that catches everyone's eye. She is very sweet hearted and will do amazing with someone looking for a best friend and a cuddle bug. She also does really well with horses!
