Hi sweet world, my name is Gretel and I’m a 3-year-old German Shepherd mix. I’m smaller than most German Shepherd mixes, only weighing in at 35 pounds, but my heart is oh so big!
I came from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico, but I was rescued and I’ve been living with a foster family in Denver for a little bit. I settle into new places quickly and people say I am one happy dog!
I’ve gotten to meet lots of new people and animals lately and I love them all – I think kids are great, I like all five of the dogs I’m living with right now (small and big, young and old) – and the cat that lives here, too. Everyone who comes over just seems to love me as much as I love them!
My foster parents say that I’m very well-behaved and they leave me out of my crate to roam around the house whenever they go to work or leave for awhile. I always make sure to be very good. I sleep in my crate at night with the door open, but always sleep through the night.
At one point in my life I must have learned how to be so good because it comes naturally. I’m housetrained, crate-trained, and know how to sit and come on command. I like to sit nicely when you give me a bath and brush me, too. Like I said before I love people and I am very affectionate. I’ll sit next to you as long as I can and snuggle you and give you gentle kisses sometimes.
I love to go on walks, but I also love to just hang out with my people. Bones are the best, and I am learning to play with toys.
I like to think of myself as a pretty well-rounded pup and I’m ready to have a family of my own, so please think of me, Gretel when you’re thinking of your new forever friend! My foster mom and dad would love to tell you more about me, too – hope to see you soon!
Gretel is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue, a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. We have no past history on her and are guessing her breed and age. If you are interested in adopting her, please complete an adoption application located on our website, www.coloradocaninerescue.org, or email us at email@example.com. She will be spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations before she goes to her forever home.
