Lincoln's Story...
"I'm done with them..."

And so begins the story of Abraham and Lincoln- two stunningly sweet 14 year old brothers who have spent their entire lives with one family. Completely bonded to that home and familiar structure, they now spend their days surrounded in uncertainty. Gone are the cozy corners and beds they used to snuggle on. No longer is there a lap at night to curl up on. And most jarring for them is the absence of a quiet environment- now they spend their days being lulled to sleep by the sounds of over a dozen dogs barking, and strange cats meowing and caterwauling. All because their person, the one they depended on and trusted, decided she was...

done with them.

Normally when we take in a kitty by an owner, they are quick to say that the animal is peeing outside the box, or scratches people, or bites or some other negative behaviour trait. But in the case of Abraham and Lincoln, when pressed, the only downfall their owner could come up with was that they had ear mites.

Surely that shouldn't be merit enough to sentence them to life in a crowded and noisy animal shelter. This brother act deserves to spend their golden years sunning themselves in a sunny window...casually observing birds who stop by to nibble at a stocked bird feeder....and snuggled close to their owner at night in bed.

We are steadfast in our desire to see them move into an actual home environment, where they can spend their senior years smothered in love and true affection. We are pushing their story anywhere we can, because we are not...

done with them.

Are you ready to start with them and give them a rewarding journey that will allow their story to end on a dignified and loved note? Contact MHS today for more info!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lincoln, a Muskegon Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Muskegon, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Muskegon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Muskegon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Muskegon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Muskegon paves the way for another one to be saved.
