Hello there! My name is Rocko and I'm a 1 1/2 year old, 78 lb., tan & white Labrador Retriever mix. I'm looking for my new forever home. My last home I was very happy, but the landlord changed the rules, so I had to leave. I am housebroken and I am learning to walk on a leash. I have lived with a large family including men, women and children, ages 1 yrs. to 11 yrs., and love to be with people. I like toys, especially chew toys. Sometimes I'm a little shy around new people and places but I warm up quickly. I'm not a big fan of water but will tolerate a bath and I may try to get out of the tub. I also have not had too many car rides, so I'm a tad scared and I have to be picked up and loaded in the car to go for a ride. I have lived with another male dog and we had lots of fun together. My previous home was fully carpeted so I am VERY scared of tile floors. I usually sleep on the floor, but have known to snooze on the couch from time to time. If you're looking for your new best friend, please come visit me!

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
We are open to the public for adoptions (or just come to visit the animals) as follows:
Tuesday - Friday 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Adoptions stop @ 4:30 PM)
Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (adoptions stop @ 3:30 PM)
CLOSED SUNDAY AND MONDAY
