Burt's Story...
Burt is an older male Lab mix – hard to tell what he might be mixed with, but he is very tall and lanky so maybe even some Great Dane is in his lineage. He is wise and stately gentleman. We think he could be in the range of 8 years of age. He weighs about 70 pound and he came to us from the Austin City dog pound. Burt is a laid back guy, but he perks up just fine for walks or brushing. Burt would love to nice family that will care for him, provide him with some modest exercise, and reserve a nice warm bed for him. At our Shelter, Burt resides in a 5' x 10' kennel pen so it makes it hard for us to know if he is housetrained or not, but generally he keeps that pen pretty clean. He had a little open wound on his rear hip when we first took him in, but that has been treated and is healing nicely. Burt is current with all vaccinations, is neutered, and tested negative for heartworm and lyme. His adoption fee is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Burt, a Austin Great Dane/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Austin, or seeking a Great Dane/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Great Dane/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
