Look who is looking for you! We bring 65 dogs to the St. Louis area every Saturday. If you would like to meet this dog, just let us know. We are at PetSmart in O’Fallon on the 1st and 2nd Saturdays of each month and at PetSmart in Chesterfield on the 3rd and 4th Saturday. We are at PetCo in St. Charles /St. Peters on Mid River Mall Drive on Saturday afternoon.

Matilda is a so cute. Very sweet and super affectionate, her owner loved her very much but she moved into a nursing home. Mattie has always been someone’s special girl. She was shy and reserved for about 30 minutes when she first came to us, then - she settled in on my lap and decided that was the place to be. She is loving, smart, great with other dogs and very cute. She has a typical Aussie very short bobbed tail. Her ears suggest there is Spaniel in her family.

Two years old and 12 pounds, we think Mattie is a real prize! To adopt one of our dogs, just…

Go to our website Takeafriendhome.org and click on the link to the application. Complete and send. For more information, call Deanna 573-889-9691 or Cynthea 573-714-4232. You can email us at dogs@takeafriendhome.org.

Spay/neutered, all vaccines current, you pup can be microchipped for $10 if arranged prior to pick up.

Housetrained? Yes – if you have a fenced yard, these pups will know to go out. All dogs have to learn your schedule and how to communicate their needs to you. To be successful at housetraining: use a crate, go out with your dog and praise “right action”, and expect more of yourself than you do of your dog. Housetraining tips are in your adoption packet.

Adoption Fees and Payment Plans: We take credit cards and checks. Payments can be arranged with a credit card. As with all of our adoptions, we know it is hard to get married on a blind date... even to a wonderful pup. We will take our dog back during the first month and refund your adoption fee less $75. To hold a pup, we ask for a $50 non-refundable deposit if delivery is not made during the same week.

About the breed: Miniature Australian Shepherds are easygoing, perpetual puppies that love to play. Courageous, loyal and affectionate, they are excellent children's companions that are great with active children. A devoted friend and guardian. Very lively, agile and attentive, they are eager to please with a sixth sense about what the owner wants. Miniature Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent and easy to train. They need a job to do, as the breed is very intelligent, active and thus easily bored. Socialize your dog well when it is a puppy to avoid it becoming suspicious of strangers. A fine companion, it also enjoys working small stock. They are quiet workers. This breed is not usually dog aggressive.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an eager, affectionate tail-wagger. Lively, outgoing and sportive. These little dogs want to please. They understand what you want and therefore are usually easy to train and respond well to gentle obedience training. They are said to be naturally well behaved and get along well with other dogs and non-canine pets. Cavalier's love people and need lots of companionship to be happy. They should not be left alone all day. They are descended from hunting dogs and love to romp in the great outdoors. This breed sometimes displays a chasing instinct and should be kept well enclosed or leashed. They do best with older considerate children and some can be reserved with strangers. They do well in competitive obedience.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Matilda Mini-Aussie Mix, a St. Louis Australian Shepherd/Spaniel (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Spaniel (Unknown Type) for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Spaniel (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Spaniel (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Spaniel (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
