Introducing FIRLEY, a Labrador mix who is approximately 7 years old and about 70 pounds. When Firley was rescued from Chicago’s Animal Care and Control, he was very scared and timid but has really adjusted well to living in his foster mom's home. Because it appears that Firley was most likely mistreated or abused prior to his rescue he needs a quiet household with a gentle adopter.
Firley loves to run around in the yard and when inside will chew on a bone for a bit and then nap. He is really pretty “low key” and would make an ideal companion for someone looking to share their home with a laid back dog. Firley enjoys his foster mom's attention and will lay next to her for pets; he would do best in a household where he will be included in daily living - not confined to live away from the family. Firley loves food and will jump in the air with excitement at dinner time; his foster mom makes him sit and settle down prior to being fed and Firley is doing well with this training. He is housebroken. Because of Firley's timidity, he is approved for adult households.
Firley is crated while his foster mom is away at work, but sleeps in a dog bed next to his foster mom's bed at night. Firley is wary of some dogs so he would be fine as an only dog, but he does live in his foster home with a few other dogs with whom he is now comfortable.
This gentle, sweet boy has been neutered, inoculated against diseases, dewormed, tested for Heartworm Disease (negative) and microchipped. Rescue Group Info...
A Caring Place, is an All Breed Dog Rescue organization that is exclusively foster based (no facility) and is volunteer run. We rescue dogs and puppies from animal control facilities, dog pounds, and other shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia; each dog receives all medical care and treatment necessary to be healthy, and then place them into loving temporary homes (foster homes) until adopted. Without our foster care provider's, we could not save these dogs.
FOSTER CARE PROVIDERS are always needed!
Dogs and puppies available for adoption are shown on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month between 10 am and 1 pm at PETCO of Downers Grove, 1400F 75th Street, Downers Grove IL 60516.
Adult dogs are fully vetted at the time of adoption. That includes neuter/spay, inoculations against Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and Leptospirosis. In addition, the dogs have been wormed, tested for Heartworm Disease and placed on monthly preventative, plus microchipped. ADOPTION FEE: $250.
Puppies are vaccinated with age appropriate inoculations, dewormed, neutered/spayed, and microchipped prior to adoption. Because puppies require multiple inoculations, the ADOPTION FEE is $300.
