Velvet's Story...
Velvet Our lovely special kitty, Velvet (originally called "Ally"), was the victim of a bb gun shot about 4 months ago. She came in traumatized and very shy. Now she is well-socialized and one of our main room "greeter" cats. When her fur grew back, it grew back in patches like the "Velveteen Rabbit" - and it actually is as soft as velvet. She is a rare Black Smoke with white undercoat and subtle stripes. Her face looks similar to an Abyssinian - long & with very perky ears. The owners turned her into a local shelter because they did not have the money to take her to the vet. The shelter called Project Purr - one of our volunteers picked her up and took her directly to our vet. She has been with us ever since. The first month at our center, she hid a lot, but now she is very friendly.
