Beautiful Bella is indeed a gentle giant, and is so sweet but has such sadness in her eyes. This Mastiff/Great Dane mix was found as a stray, and was taken to a local shelter, but her foster family knew they couldn't let this sweet girl languish in the shelter. The shelter felt she must have had an owner some time in her life, but her previous life may have not been too kind, as she looks older than her actual age (they think she is maybe 4 or 5 years old), probably due to living outside all her life and just producing puppies. She is settling in to her new loving foster home, and is still always looks unsure of what will happen to her next, but has been coming out of her shell.
She gets along with the other large mellow dogs in her foster home, and would probably do well with another mellow dog, or even as your “one and only” as she loves being around her people. She is shy when meeting new people, but when she has gotten to know you, she is as sweet as can be. While she likes people of all sizes, because she is so low key and laid back, a calmer home with adults only or older kids would be ideal for her. She always wants to be where her people are, so that she can lean on them for head scratches, or is or just trying to nuzzle her head into someone's lap.
Bella is housebroken, up to date on her shots, spayed and heartworm negative. She weighs about 130 lbs., but despite being such a big girl, she is easy to handle and walks nicely on leash, and is gentle at taking treats. Her previous life may have been hard, but she is the eternal optimist, and believes people are kind and hopes she will find everlasting love. She deserves a kind home with people that love her, and will take care of her like she always should have been. Could that be a home with you? If you are interested in this beautiful girl, don’t hesitate, and fill out an application for her today!

Rescue Group Info...
Rawhide Rescue was formed to serve the needs of homeless dogs by providing loving and expedient rescue, foster homes and placement with a great measure of compassion and through teamwork with you and other rescue groups and shelters.
Rawhide Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. We'll be happy to provide you with a tax-receipt upon request so that you can deduct your donation to us.
Any financial support to help us care for our animals is very much appreciated and we also need dog food, crates of all sizes, beds and blankets for the pets in our care.
We do not have a shelter so we don't have visiting hours.
Please note that Rawhide Rescue does not run a physical shelter but uses a network of loving foster homes to house the animals awaiting adoption. To meet one of the animals that you find on the web, come to our adoption days (see the "events" page of our website) or send us an application at email@example.com. Most of our adoption days are at PetSmart in Bridgewater, NJ or PetSmart in Watchung, NJ.
To adopt one of our animals, go to our website at www.rawhiderescue.org and download our Microsoft Word dog application, or use our "online application." We regret that we cannot respond to inquiries about a specific pet until we receive a completed application.
Adoption fees are donations to Rawhide Rescue, not payment for value received, and are based primarily on the age, health, and temperament of a particular dog, and our expenses. Rawhide Rescue is not a shelter, and we are not subsidized. Most shelters receive municipal funding, while Rawhide Rescue operates on adoption fees and donations. All of our members are volunteers, and none of us receives a salary or payment of any kind. Our funds go 100% toward the care of our dogs, primarily for veterinary expenses and occasional boarding fees. Volunteers usually pay the costs for transport, fostering, phone calls, postage, and adoption screening out of their own pockets.
The adoption fees range from $150 to $200 for dogs ($275 - $400 for puppies and purebreds) which is a bargain when you consider that spaying/neutering, testing, training and inoculations are usually included. Any difference in fee is noted in the description of the individual pet. Many animals have been micro-chipped.
