Animal Outreach Humane Society is a foster home network for stray cats in our community. We have several programs in place to support our commitment to animals.
SNIP (Spay,Neuter,Incentive,Program) Offers low cost altering surgery to qualifed applicants.
Feral Friends (Trap, Neuter and Return)Offers low cost spay/neuter and feral colony management support.
RFA (Rescue, Foster and Adoption) Helping the stray animals find shelter and love through our foster homes and adoption through various locations. All of our animals are spayed or neutered, tested for feline Leukemia and FIV, dewormed, microchipped and given a health check by a vet before they are placed up for adoption.
MCAC - McHenry County Animal Control program where volunteers assist via working with the county shelter. We also take the cats that are to be euthanized for lack of space when we are able.
You can see our cats every day at the Petsmart store Luv-a-Pet centers in McHenry and Algonquin. On Saturday and Sunday at the McHenry Petsmart our adoption event occurs from 11 a.m til 2 p.m. At the Petsmart in Algonquin on Saturday and Sunday the event occurs from 11 a.m - 2:00 p.m. You can also see our kitties at the Petco in McHenry. But we are open to adoptions at other times during the week, a call to our adoption line at 815-385-0005 is all that is needed.
Our website contains all adoption locations and times.
An adoption application must be filled out. An applicant must be 21 years of age or older. If adopter rents home or an apartment a copy of the lease must be seen or we must speak with a landlord prior to the adoption. All cats must be kept indoors only! If for some reason the adoption does not work out the animal is welcomed back into the organization. If a cat is returned to AOHS the cat must be healthy and adoptable and returns will be based on availability of foster homes. The adoption fee is non-refundable.
Animal Outreach does have restrictions on families with small children. Please ask a representative for more information.
All of our animals are tested for FELV and FIV, Spay or neutered prior to the adoption. Have been given a distemper shot, been dewormed, microchipped and have a signed health check. Most important is that the animals are cared for in loving foster homes when the animals are exposed to a home enviroment in which they have free roam, interact with foster familes and are loved.
Adoption fees for kittens under a year old is $125, cash or check. All adult cats over 1 year old are only $50.
We work mostly in our own county of McHenry in Illinois but are called upon occasionally to help cats in other counties such as Kane, Lake and Boone.
