Jean Luc's Story...
Jean Luc came to Tree House as a scared stray kitty. He is still very unsure about humans and tends to hiss or growl if you get too close. Jean Luc is never aggressive; he just becomes very stressed when he feels threatened or when he is under restraint. Jean Luc has become more comfortable with human presence over time and is responsive to treats and other food socialization. He will remain relaxed in the company of trusted individuals and his cat friends. He is very bonded to Dijon and they often curl up together.

Jean Luc has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which is an immune system deficiency in cats. It Is harder for cats like him to fight off infection, but if he is given proper preventative care, he can live a long and healthy life. Adopting an FIV positive cat from Tree House comes with a lot of benefits. Our adoptions staff would be happy to provide you with more info about Jean Luc's condition. Otherwise, Jean Luc is one happy camper that would love a home to call his own.

About Our Shelter...
Tree House is a humane organization that promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care, with a focus on the care and placement of stray cats with special physical and emotional needs. We are committed to finding every healthy and treatable animal a home.

Tree House was founded in 1971 and since that time we have expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, no-kill, cageless shelter for sick, injured, abused and neglected cats in the Chicagoland area. To date we have found homes for nearly 14,000 cats. In addition to our focus on the rehabilitation and adoption of stray cats, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Free Spay/Neuter Program, Pet Loss Grief Support Group, Humane Investigations Team, Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Behavior Hotline, Pet Food Pantry, and Education Outreach Program.

Our Adoption Process...
At Tree House, trained adoption counselors interview prospective adopters to understand their needs, and then adopters are escorted to the Adoption Floor to choose their future friend. Adopters are encouraged to take as much time as they need to find a cat. All adoption applications stay on file for three months so please don't feel that you need to rush to choose a companion cat right away.

Your adoption fee of $85 covers the cost of your cat's care at Tree House including: spay or neuter, deworming, flea treatment, FIV and FeLV testing, AVID microchip, veterinary examination, and all necessary vaccinations. We also give a 30-day health guarantee on all of our adoptions.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

* A photo I.D.
* A second I.D. with current address and phone number (we recommend a phone bill).
* If you rent, we need your landlord's name and phone number, or a copy of your lease stating that you are allowed to have cats.
* All children under 12 in the household are required to be present for the entire adoption process.
