Yelena's Story...
Yelena is an adorable, curious, and playful cat who has lived at Tree House for 7 years (since she was a kitten)! She is often overlooked since she is on the quiet side, but this little cross-eyed darling is as loving as they come! Although she is still sometimes nervous about hand petting and may shy away from you, if you move slowly and happen to catch her while she is relaxing in a basket or with another cat, she’ll appreciatively and happily accept a pat. Playtime is a great way to connect with Yelena because she is so playful. She especially likes the laser pointer, wand toys, and bubbles! This sweet girl simply needs some gentle love from a patient and kind adopter to encourage her to continue to come out of her shell. Yelena is very sweet with other cats (she can often be found cuddling with one or two) and would do fabulously in a home with other feline companions. Please pay this adorable cross-eyed little torbie lady a visit at our Bucktown branch!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Yelena, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
