Polly's Info...

I am already spayed, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, declawed, not good with kids, not good with dogs, and good with cats.

Polly's Story...
Poor Polly has really had a rough few years. Adopted out initially as a shy kitten, she was returned having been four-paw declawed (a procedure that can greatly inhibit socialization and lead to serious behavioral and health problems). She was adopted out again a year later, but than returned for being too shy, having gained a quite a bit of weight. This little beauty is still very stressed out, and is on a wet-food diet to help slim her down. She would do well in a quiet home with humans that understand that she needs patience and dedication to her socialization. Polly will need plenty of time to regain trust in people.

About Tree House Bucktown Branch Adoption Center

About Our Shelter...

Tree House is a humane organization that promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care, with a focus on the care and placement of stray cats with special physical and emotional needs. We are committed to finding every healthy and treatable animal a home.

Tree House was founded in 1971 and since that time we have expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, no-kill, cageless shelter for sick, injured, abused and neglected cats in the Chicagoland area. To date we have found homes for nearly 14,000 cats. In addition to our focus on the rehabilitation and adoption of stray cats, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Free Spay/Neuter Program, Pet Loss Grief Support Group, Humane Investigations Team, Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Behavior Hotline, Pet Food Pantry, and Education Outreach Program.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are open every day of the week!

Saturday - Sunday: 12-6PM
Monday - Friday: 12-8PM

Note: Please allow at least an hour and half to complete the adoption process (application, interview, and tour). :-)

Our Adoption Process...

At Tree House, trained adoption counselors interview prospective adopters to understand their needs, and then adopters are escorted to the Adoption Floor to choose their future friend. Adopters are encouraged to take as much time as they need to find a cat. All adoption applications stay on file for three months so please don't feel that you need to rush to choose a companion cat right away.

Your adoption fee of $85 covers the cost of your cat's care at Tree House including: spay or neuter, deworming, flea treatment, FIV and FeLV testing, AVID microchip, veterinary examination, and all necessary vaccinations. We also give a 30-day health guarantee on all of our adoptions.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

* A photo I.D.
* A second I.D. with current address and phone number (we recommend a phone bill).
* If you rent, we need your landlord's name and phone number, or a copy of your lease stating that you are allowed to have cats.
* All children under 12 in the household are required to be present for the entire adoption process.
