A231615 Tristan's Story...

I am ready to be yours!

Tristan is a happy young puppy of about 7 months.  He is very friendly and his favorite game is keep away from me and the other dogs.  He will play this game with anything fun that he can fit in his mouth and run off with.  Dish towels are a favorite keep away toy.  Tristan would make a great addition to a family with school aged children that will interact and play with him.  If there was another dog in the family that would also be great because Tristan is very social and loves to interact with everyone and everything.  He is crate and house trained but needs reinforcement every now and then as he is easily distracted.  Tristan is very good in his kennel especially if he has a bone or strong kong chew toy to gnaw on.  He is also very smart so interactive toys will keep him busy and out of trouble whenever you don't have time to personally engage him.  Tristan walks well on a leash and enjoys going out and meeting new people.  He is not a barker or whiner and in general an almost perfect dog.  Tristan is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his shots.   I forgot to mention that he has beautiful eyes also!

All of the animals listed by San Antonio Pets Alive! were rescued from euthanasia in San Antonio, Texas. Over 20,000 animals were euthanized in San Antonio in 2011, and we are working hard to turn San Antonio into a no-kill city. By adopting a rescue animal from SAPA!, you not only save the life of that animal but the life of the additional animal who gets to take their place in a foster home.

If you are interested in saving a life and adoptiong from San Antonio Pets Alive!, please send an email to with the pet's name and ID #. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond as all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis. To learn more about our mission and to find out how to get involved, please visit us at

About San Antonio Pets Alive

About Our Rescue Group...

San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA!) is a new organization that will be modeled after the very successful Austin Pets Alive (APA). APA was instrumental in helping Austin achieve their goal of no longer euthanizing healthy, adoptable pets from the city shelter. SAPA has teamed up with Animal Care Services in order for the city of SA to reach their no-kill goal.

In partnership with San Antonio’s Animal Care Services, we are implementing innovative and progressive programs to:

Rescue as many pets as possible off of the daily “euthanasia list”. In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and create programs to save their lives and find them new homes.

Our rescue program is focused 100% on the dogs and cats who are about to be killed. We wait until the shelters have chosen the pets they want for their adoption programs and other rescue groups have pulled the pets that they can take, then we go in and rescue the rest that we can fit into our programs.
