A220011 Ralph's Story...

Please take me home!

Ralph is a beautiful young black lab shepherd mix who is full of happy playful energy.  He has the softest coat and loves to be petted and scratched behind his ears.  He is very people and dog friendly and always up for a good chase.  He loves toys, bones, playing keep away, playing fetch, running with the other dogs in the yard and spending quiet time with me in the evening.  Ralph does well with dogs his size and bigger.  I don't know how he is with smaller dogs or with cats.  He would probably do best in an active family with school aged children who can actively interact with him and not risk being knocked over if he jumps up.  He would also do well with an active couple or single person.  Ralph is a very good looking dog and would make a great partner to go running with or to the dog park.  If you are single, Ralph would be a great ice-breaker to help you meet a compatible dog lover friend.  Ralph is crate and housebroken, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all shots.

All of the animals listed by San Antonio Pets Alive! were rescued from euthanasia in San Antonio, Texas. Over 20,000 animals were euthanized in San Antonio in 2011, and we are working hard to turn San Antonio into a no-kill city. By adopting a rescue animal from SAPA!, you not only save the life of that animal but the life of the additional animal who gets to take their place in a foster home.

If you are interested in saving a life and adoptiong from San Antonio Pets Alive!, please send an email to with the pet's name and ID #. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond as all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis. To learn more about our mission and to find out how to get involved, please visit us at

About San Antonio Pets Alive

About Our Rescue Group...

San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA!) is a new organization that will be modeled after the very successful Austin Pets Alive (APA). APA was instrumental in helping Austin achieve their goal of no longer euthanizing healthy, adoptable pets from the city shelter. SAPA has teamed up with Animal Care Services in order for the city of SA to reach their no-kill goal.

In partnership with San Antonio’s Animal Care Services, we are implementing innovative and progressive programs to:

Rescue as many pets as possible off of the daily “euthanasia list”. In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and create programs to save their lives and find them new homes.

Our rescue program is focused 100% on the dogs and cats who are about to be killed. We wait until the shelters have chosen the pets they want for their adoption programs and other rescue groups have pulled the pets that they can take, then we go in and rescue the rest that we can fit into our programs.
