My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Handsome is a little Teddy Bear. He is a happy young dog who loves everyone including kids, cats and other dogs. He is approximately 1 - 2 years old and weighs just under 30 lbs. He is full grown and looks like a little miniature Chow but unlike a Chow he loves everyone and is all fun and playfulness.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Handsome is such a character, so outgoing and fun to be with. He'd make a great companion for anyone. He loves to play and is up for anything you want to do. Once he's had enough play time he just flops down and is asleep in seconds. He would love to go to a house with another dog to play with or would love to go out socializing with other dogs.

He's great with respectful older kids who like to play with him. He is young and still needs correcting at times when he starts to play too rough but listens well and is learning to be gentle. He sleeps in a crate and doesn't mind spending reasonable amounts crated.
Handsome is completely house trained, you just need to offer many breaks outside and he always will do what he needs to do when taken outside. He will always do his business quickly when you take him out. He's never had a accident which is amazing for a dog coming from a shelter:)

Handsome is still very much a young dog and can be silly in his attempts to get your attention. He may steal your mitts, but he is only wanting to initiate a game with you. He is still learning that he can't share our food so it is best to crate him while you are eating and don't leave food out that he can steal. He knows sit, and his recall has improved but he still gets distracted very easily. He seems eager to learn, just need to take him somewhere quiet with few distractions and he picks up things easily. He would be a wonderful candidate for obedience classes.

He loves dogs of all sizes and he's good with kids. As mentioned above, he is young and still needs correction and would be best with older children who could correct him when he gets a bit too rough. He does not have an aggressive bone in his body and is great with everyone. He will not steal food while another dog is eating. He takes food very gently from a person. He is very playful with dogs. He's been with tiny dogs and big dogs and is great with them all. He's very respectful with cats.

He seems fine with alone time. He gets lots of exercise here so he's often very tired when we require him to be on his own. He would need regular daily walks to keep him happy. He's seems very comfortable with loud noises and cars. We haven't noticed any fears to anything so far. He rides well in the car.

Even though he's long haired he isn't a huge shedder. But definitely should be brushed regularly to reduce amount of hair in your house. He's very quiet in the home and rarely barks unless he wants or needs to go out. He's eager to learn and already has many good manners. He'd be a great first dog for someone and complete any home.

We would love to see Handsome in a home where he can get plenty of exercise and then snuggle up with somebody and enjoy a forever home and family.

If you think Handsome would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
