JONI's Story...
JONI is a beautiful 18 mth old hound female. She is super sweet and loves to give hugs and kisses. She came to FARR with her 11 babies that have all been adopted out. She is looking for her own home. She loves to snuggles with her foster parents at night, and enjoys being outside. She is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on all shots. Her kids all found their furever homes, it is now her turn. She is fostered in Dunedin with an adoption fee of $100.
If you are interested in adopting, please send an email to AdoptFromFARR@yahoo.com with the dog’s name listed in the subject line. Please include your name and return contact info.
FARR places our rescue pups in personal foster homes throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pacso Counties. FARR – Florida Retriever Rescue is a 501c3 NonProfit group composed totally of volunteers working to save the lives of neglected and unwanted dogs. The adoption fee helps to cover the first 2 shots, Dewormer, and neuter or spay fees, as well as a rabies shot, if the dog is over 4months at time of adoption, and a heartworm test, if the dog is over 6months at time of adoption, as well as any transport or pull fees FARR may have paid to the shelter for our rescues. All funds taken in are used strictly for the care and health of our rescues. You can also check out our other available rescue dogs and puppies currently fostered around the Tampa Bay area by visiting FARR Adopt-A-Pet http://www.adoptapet.com/adoption_rescue/75598.html or FARR Pet Finder http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/FL466.html Thank you for your interest in a rescue dog!

About Our Rescue Group...
Adopting a dog from a rescue group is the best way for you to get a dog. Of course we are biased and believe that “Rescued is the best breed!” We pull from kill shelters, but the dogs live in various foster homes with us throughout Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough Counties. This allows us to evaluate the good, the bad, and the ugly. And don’t worry, we will tell you all of it. Our job is to make sure we make the best match possible for you, your family, and the dog. Adopt - Save a Life!

Come Meet Our Pets...
All of our rescues are placed in personal foster homes across the Tampa Bay area in Pinellas, Hillsborough, & Pasco Counties.

FARR Participates in several local adoption events throughout the area. Check back for postings on our commitments to attend different events.

Our Adoption Process...
The adoption fee is required so we can provide the best possible care for all of our incoming rescues. We had lowered our adoption fees for a while due to the economy, but our vets have raised their fees and we are struggling to keep afloat, so now we are setting them based on their age, breed, and demand. Please rest assured our adoption fees are still the lowest of any rescue in the area. Some dogs will only cost us $75, some will cost us $1200. We take care of our dogs medically prior to adoption to ensure as best we can that you are getting a healthy dog. We of course cannot check hips and all that, but will if the dog shows any issues around it. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, two DAPPV2 shots, rabies (if over 16 weeks, or if the spay/neuter vet requires it), de-worming and heartworm test (if over 6 months) and treatment if heartworm positive (which cost us $460 by itself). The adoption fee allows us to help multiple dogs in different stages of health, age, and abuse. Again, all medical is done (spay/neutered, shots, deworming, heartworm test-treated if positive, etc) prior to adoption. We do not set requirements for our adopters beyond the fact that if you're looking for a lawn ornament, you came to the wrong place. Our dogs are inside dogs only. Other than that, if you have love to give a dog, we will work with you.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Florida Retriever Rescue (FARR) is a 501(c)(3) non profit, all volunteer, dog rescue organization. We take in all retriever breeds (Labradors, Goldens, Flat Coats, Curly Coats and Duck Tollers) and mixes of those breeds. We temperament test our dogs before they come in and of course all medical needs are taken care of prior to adoption. We are located in Tampa Bay (Hillsborough, Pinellas, & Pasco Counties), though you are welcome to submit an inquiry if you are willing to drive to meet your potentional match.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

JONI, a Oldsmar Hound (Unknown Type)/Treeing Walker Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Treeing Walker Coonhound for sale in Oldsmar, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Treeing Walker Coonhound dog from a breeder in Oldsmar.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oldsmar already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oldsmar breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Treeing Walker Coonhound breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Treeing Walker Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oldsmar paves the way for another one to be saved.
