Salem's Story...
Salem is a 2 year old neutered male Chocolate Lab mix. If Salem is not claimed he will be available for adoption on 02/08/13 after 6pm. Salem is currently in a foster home and can be seen by calling the shelter to arrange a time to meet him. His foster mom reports he has learned the command sit, but don't expect him to stay for very long. More training on basic commands will be needed. He is very treat motivated so training so be easy. Salem has not been socialized so he is startled by new things such as loud noises, car windows going up and down, etc. He does love to go for car rides. He gets along with other dogs, but his behavior with cats is unknown. He is living with children above the age of 6 in his current foster home with no issues. Salem is a cuddler and a kisser, loves his toys, and he has not had any accidents in the house. Salem can be possessive if he has a bone and will growl and snip if another dog tries to steal it, but he does not have any food aggression and is fine with his own food bowl.

If you want to apply for Salem click here. You can then email the application to the Meridian Humane Society.Applications are now being accepted, and a visitation with the dog is encouraged. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Salem, a Meridian Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
