Locket's Story...
Please contact Cindy Patton (KindnessForCats@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.

Hi, my name is Locket! My foster mom named me Locket because I am all shiny black except for a gathering of white hairs at my throat that look like a locket. And I am my foster mom's very favorite foster kitten! She is so taken with me because I am such an unusual kitten in that despite being VERY timid I also very much want to be loved.  My foster mom thinks I may have had some bad experiences as a baby and just need patience and consistency to allow me to blossom into the very affectionate sweet girl that is coming out more and more. I am so timid that my foster mom considers me to be a 'special needs' kitten as I really need that extra special someone who will understand and be patient with me.  I was terrified when my foster mom first received me but not because I was 'feral' or unsocialized but evidently due to something that happened in my past. I'm not hissy or in any other way aggressive or lashing out in my fear instead I was quick to scurry away to hide under the first piece of furniture I saw.  But even so I'd poke my head out and quietly meow as if asking is it okay for me to come out?  I am getting a bit more confident and love to be stroked. I'll bump my head against your hand hoping you'll pet me or scratch me under my chin.  Then I'll plop down on the floor and roll around showing my pleasure that you're paying attention to me!  And I'm quite talkative for such a timid girl!!  I'll have an entire conversation with you!  I'll start it and if you talk back to me I'll keep answering you!  So lots of progress made and really hoping to be adopted by that special someone who will understand and be patient with me as I gain confidence with them.  I will be so worth the extra time & attention!!

And I'm not shy at all with other kittens or cats!  I especially like adult cats who I'll rub up against and I like kittens who I can play tag with!  I'm litterbox trained and don't scratch furniture, instead I like to stretch my front paws on a sisal twine scratching post and on the Turbo scratcher. I'm an indoor kitten and prefer to remain so, protected from hazards of the outdoors. And I'm so ready to go home with my own very special someone!  Could that be you?  Please, please give me a chance!!  My adoption fee is only $20.13 for the month of Jan.  Please email for more information.

About Our Rescue Group...
Kindness For Cats Inc is a small nonprofit organization that participates in the Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) foster program providing temporary nurturing homes for at least a few of the countless kittens and cats abandoned there. We attempt to find permanent loving homes for these kittens and cats so that they will not have to return to OCAS when their time in foster care is done.

We also strongly promote spay/neuter to help fight the battle against unwanted felines, and attempt to inform the general public regarding the daunting problem of pet overpopulation. For low cost spay/neuter options (cat neuter for only $10, spay for $20) please visit the OCAS website for more information www.orangecountyfl.net/cms/DEPT/CEsrvcs/animal/surgerydisclaim.htm

*** Please note we do not take in any animals outside of OCAS due to limited resources and space. We are involved with OCAS as we feel that is where the greatest need is given that in one year alone over 24,000 unwanted pets and/or strays were brought to OCAS and only 6560 of those were adopted or reclaimed. The remaining 17,732 were either euthanized or died at the shelter (statistics - www.orangecountyfl.net/cms/DEPT/CEsrvcs/animal/stats.htm).

If you are looking for assistance with feral cats/kittens we suggest that you contact Care Feline Rescue www.carefelinerescue.org/ which is a nonprofit that works only with feral and stray cats. ***

Come Meet Our Pets...
You may visit the kittens and cats at their foster parent's homes; appointments are flexible and set at a time convenient to the potential adoptor and the foster parent. For more information or to set up an appointment, please email the foster parent listed in the description of the kitten or cat that you are interested in.
Our Adoption Process...
Most of the animals in our care are foster animals from Orange County Animal Services (OCAS), in other words the property of OCAS. Anyone wanting to adopt one of these animals completes an application form and must submit the form in person at OCAS directly. The adoption fee for OCAS kittens & cats is $40, one of the requirements is verification of pet policy if the potential adoptor rents.

The adoption fee of $40 for the OCAS kittens & cats includes spay/neuter, initial vaccinations including rabies, de-worming, de-fleaing, testing for feline leukemia, and an AVID chip (ID for lost pets). The OCAS foster kittens & cats featured on this website are currently staying with their foster parent. Please contact the foster parent listed in the kitten/cat's description for more information on the kitten/cat that you are interested in. We may also have a limited number of kittens & cats that we are showing on our website as courtesy listing; their adoption fees may vary due to expenses incurred in preparing the kittens/cats for adoption.
