My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Porrtia is a beautiful 5 year old dapple girl, that weighs in at about 9 pounds. She was one of many dogs recently rescued from a puppy mill in South Texas. This sweet girl is shy and still a bit fearful with quick or unexpected movements, but she is also a curious and observant girl. Once she warms up, she wants the best seat in the house - the one that is closest to her foster mom!
She is doing very well with house training and quiet in her crate at night. She is ok with smaller dogs and would do well in a home with dogs her size or by herself. Right now she is a little unsure of bigger dogs and will snap at them if she feels threatened. Because of her small size and shy nature, she needs a home with either no children or older children who understand the need to approach her slowly. A fenced yard, if even a small one, is a must because She loves to go out in the yard and play chase with her Hooman!
Portia is current on vaccinations, spayed and micro chipped. She did test slightly Heartworm positive. Our vet recommends the slow kill method which is nothing more than giving her a monthly Heartworm preventative. She will need to be retested in a year to confirm a negative result.
Its obvious to us that this precious girl has never had a loving home where she felt secure. A home full of love, warm laps, and the security that she so desperately craves and so completely deserves is waiting out there! Are you that home?
