POPETTE's Story...
Popette is a gorgeous, affectionate and curious little gal who was rescued from the Oakland Temescal neighborhood. Her fur is a deep beautiful gray, with only an ever so slight white patch on her chest and subtle lynx-striping on her tail. She is incredibly soft/silky to the touch, which is wonderful because she also loves as much petting and scritching as someone is willing to give. Popette purrs constantly, rubs affectionately on people/walls/furniture, and loves to also loll-about and ssstttrreeetttcchhhh. Little escapes those bright yellow eyes and she absolutely enjoys interactive play with the feather-duster toy. She is easily held and will settle in on a lap, too. Popette seems also very easily adjusted to new surroundings, expressing primarily a curious and adventurous nature. She had been nick named 'Poppa' by a member of the community who had spotted the cat. Upon capture, however, we learned he was a she and, hence, she became Popette instead. She would probably be okay as an only cat so long as she has plenty of human attention. But, she would also probably benefit from kitty companion/s to play with, or possibly a calm dog. Given her wonderful demeanor, she should be okay with children over 6 as well. We estimate Popette was born in January of 2012. Bio# 3324 KB

About Our Rescue Group...
ICRA is an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the suffering of the abandoned cat population of Alameda and Oakland, and to educate people to their plight. We provide foster homes for our rescues until we can place them into loving homes through our adoption program. On a limited basis, we humanely trap feral cats in order to spay/neuter them before releasing them back to their colonies. Our goal is to expand our program for maintaining cat colonies in our communities. To make this expansion possible, we need more volunteers.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

POPETTE, a Alameda Russian Blue cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Russian Blue for sale in Alameda, or seeking a Russian Blue cat from a breeder in Alameda.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Alameda already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Alameda breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Russian Blue breeders who help with Russian Blue rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Alameda paves the way for another one to be saved.
