Bonzo's Story...
Bonzo is a very energetic, absolutely hilarious, talkative Amazon. He came to FPR because his mommy passed away. He is believed to be about 30 years old. Bonzo does nothing but talk talk talk! He says "Bonzo", "Hello", "Hi", "Oh My God", "No", "Ouch", "Pretty Bird" and makes a rooster sound. He also sings "Old McDonald had a farm", whistles and even growls at you! He can also make an alarm sound, and he will hang upside down and say "woooahhhh"! When he sees something yummy, he will say mmmmmm and there is tons more new things we are hearing each day. He can also speak in a deep manly voice and has a conversation with you, but I can’t always tell exactly what he is saying. He is stick trained and will step up. At this time he is selective with who he will step up with, but he loves to come out and play. When he came to FPR he was starting to pluck his chest, but since then has stopped. He loves ropes, chains and bells. Currently he is in the transition of going from a seed to a pellet diet with plenty of fresh veggies and some fruits and nuts, he doing quite well with the conversion. He would make a wonderful companion for just about anyone with time and patience. He is one awesome parrot!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bonzo, a Tampa Amazon was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Amazon for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Amazon from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Amazon breeders who help with Amazon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
