I am already neutered, purebred, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Sully is a pure bred sable Sheltie he is a sweet older guy looking for a retirement home. At 12-14 years old he is calm and quiet in the house. Sully has been exposed to other dogs, children, cats and is fine with everyone, but considering his age and medical condition the best home for him would be a somewhat quiet home. He is a sweet gentle guy but he can be a bit shy at first and will shy away from strange men. He does really enjoy the outdoors but he is not suited for city life. Loud noises cars and trucks make him nervous and I'm worried if he was living near a busy street he might bolt into traffic out of fear. He is not completely house broken but we are working on it. His biggest hurtle with the house breaking is that he likes to mark in the house but I think after he gets fixed that will subside.
Sully came to us with Lyme disease, heartworms and with bad teeth. So far we have treated the Lyme disease, treated the heartworms and will be sending him for dental surgery and to be neutered in the beginning of April. His last heartworm treatment was on 2/28/13 so he needs to be on strict crate rest for 30 days from the treatment. Yes, having surgery at his age is a bit riskier than a younger dog but he has shown us all that he has a strong heart and still has some good years left. Due to the fact that he can not be adopted right away we would like to find him an appropriate family who is open to a foster to adopt situation. The best family for Sully would be a quiet home that will commit to him so he can begin to settle in while finishing his treatment. Then he would have a familiar place to call home after his surgery. With a foster to adopt situation we process everything like a normal adoption but we don't make the adoption official until after his surgery. This way the rescue is responsible for his medical care and expenses during the fostering period.
