Pepper's Story...
My name is Pepper and I’m a very special 3 – 4 year old smoke kitty, which is a rare type of cat with long black fur and a white undercoat. The last few months have been tough for me. I was declawed by my previous owners. When they could no longer take care of me, I was turned out and struggled to live outside on my own for over a month. Being such a sweet, gentle kitty I just could not understand why this had happened to me. You can tell I’ve been hunting birds because I love to chase after squeaky toys that go really high when you throw them. My favorite pastime is purring, which I will do loudly whenever you pet me. I’m just a lonely young gentleman, homeless and searching for a forever home once again.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Kelsey’s special smoke kitty.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pepper, a Richmond Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
