Gemma's Story...
Gemma is a 10 month old, 75 pound black lab. For some reason, her tail has been docked. So you won’t have to worry about her knocking things off of the coffee table with her tail! It seems that her previous owner might not have been nice to her, because she is very shy when she meets a new person. But after a minute, she is very affectionate. Gemma is high energy and will need some training. But she is sweet and beautiful and will be a wonderful pet for an understanding family. Gemma is in a boarding kennel, so she needs a foster home or a forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gemma, a Richmond Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
