My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is a lovely little dog with a bright and shiny coat. She is a young adult who is affectionate and loving but who needs someone that is gentle and kind to help build her confidence. She is a delightful little dog with a very sweet personality. She is approximately 2 - 3 years old and weighs approximately 20 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Lucy is a happy and healthy little girl. She is a timid girl but is very food motivated making her easy to train. She has a good appetite and eats her meals as soon as she gets it. She is not destructive in the house and does not take our belongings to chew on. She knows "come" and "sit" and is working on the commands "stay" and "off".

She has learned to do her business outside in less time and has had almost no accidents in the house in the last 3 days. In the last few days she is letting us know she needs to go out by going to the patio door where we normally let her out. We have not crate trained her as there is always someone home. She usually settles down at night to sleep and does not wander. Lucy has not shown any signs of separation anxiety. Lucy walks well on leash...follows her nose so, she does not walk in a straight line, rather, prefers to be in front of us to zigzag making sure no scent is left unturned. Lucy is quiet in the car, usually lays down for the ride.

Lucy is a friendly though somewhat timid with strangers. Although I don't think she is used to being around humans she loves attention and affection and soon comes around for some chin scratching and chest rubs. She is good with the children she meets on her walks and will let them pet her. Lucy doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body.

Lucy gets along very will with our Beagle, although when she first got here she did not play with our dog. Now she loves to play with him out in the yard constantly teasing him to get him to chase her.

Lucy does get a little jumpy at loud or unexpected noises especially at night in the yard. She seem to be cautious about it and soon wants to go back into the house. She has come a long way since being in our care. Initially she was fearful of stranger noises and although she is still wary at times, she is no longer afraid. She will stop to listen when she hears voices in the distance.

Lucy loves to go for walks...nose to ground searching... playing with our dog and is beginning to play with stuffed toys. She has a moderate to low energy level...more excited and engaged outdoors, quieter in the house. Lucy does not bark in the house even when the door bell has been rung.

Lucy is a delightful little Beagle that has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen on a dog. She should have been named Cleopatra
because that’s who she reminds me of when she looks up at us with those gorgeous eyes of hers. She is gaining confidence daily and has a delightful sweet character. She would do well in a household with another dog and adults and older children who can give her the patience and TLC she needs to continue to blossom.

If you would like to make this sweet girl part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
