I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Here is Itty Bitty Ebony. So tiny and petite, but don't let her looks fool you! She is a survivor. This delightful little dog lived on the streets and in a park for nearly six weeks on her own before a good samaritan could catch her.
Ebony would go into people's yards, to steal dog toys and towels, or whatever else struck her fancy. She then made a nest of her ill-gotten gains on a hill in the park under a tree, where she would sit upon her throne and watch the world go by.
Now, Ebony in a foster home has turned into a real beauty! She has learned to trust people again, although still a little timid, she has shown no signs of fear aggression. She snuggles with who ever picks her up, never a cross word. But of course when she looks into your eyes and clearly says "I trust you not to hurt me, but hold me close because I am a teeny tiny thing."
We believe Ebony is a young adult, maybe 2 to 3 at most. She has a beautiful black coat, with brindle markings on her legs, and a tiny white "racing stripe" on her chest.
Ebony lives in a home with other dogs, and a cat MUCH larger than her. She remembers what it's like to be a house dog, so is completely housebroken. She is also spayed, current on vaccinations and microchipped.
But she hasn't lost her thieving ways--She's ready to steal your heart!

We are an Independent 501c3 organization, we are not affiliated with or receive funding from any Government agency or National organization.
The Humane Society of Stanislaus County is an all volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are a small but growing group of people who want to see the lives of pets and the families who love them improve our community. We respect the humane/animal bond and help provide low cost spay/neuter services, pet food pantry, and education & support to pet owners in need.
We are a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Federal Tax ID #26-1111681 All donations are tax deductible.
We do not have a facility to house pets. All our pets are kept in foster homes, living as part of a family. We believe this helps us know the pets better, and therefore we can adopt pets into loving and suitable homes based on their needs and personalities.
The Humane Society of Stanislaus County's goal is to one day open an adoption center where pets can be seen on a regular basis. Until that time we hold offsite adoptions at various locations throughout Stanislaus County.

The Humane Society of Stanislaus County offers Dogs and Cats that are in our custody for adoption. These dogs and cats are rescued from a variety of situations, owner surrenders, abandoned (strays) and local animal shelters (also known as “pulls”).
Animals can be a costly venture (just as having a child is). Therefore it is vital that you consider the financial impact of becoming a pet parent. HSSC recommends that you consider purchasing a pet health insurance package, usually available through your local veterinarian.
Animals available for adoption have been evaluated on their known behavior history, as well as health and temperament. HSSC keeps all animals in its custody until they are adopted. Exceptions to this rule are as follows:
An animal who becomes unusually aggressive towards humans or other animals.
A medical condition exists, as diagnosed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, that would cause great suffering or loss of quality of life to the animal.
An animal is transferred to another agency for better opportunity for adoption.
All animals that are adopted from HSSC are micro-chipped.
All animals that are adopted from HSSC have been spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
All animals that are adopted from HSSC are current (up-to-date) with their vaccinations. The adopter may be required to continue with vaccinations, at their own expense, after adoption.
Basic Information for adoption
You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt.
You must be able to provide a valid (non-expired) photo ID.

HSSC does not make immediate adoptions. All persons wishing to adopt an animal must first complete an adoption applicationThis application is then reviewed and approved by staff prior to an adoption being completed. We usually require a home visit to verify the safety and to ensure a home meets the needs of the animal being adopted.
HSSC reserves the right to refuse any adoption without explanation.
For animals that are not yet ready for adoption, you may put a $50 non-refundable hold on them.
HSSC does not refund adoption fees.
HSSC recommends DOG Training for every dog that is adopted from us. We will be happy to suggest reputable dog trainers in your locality should you request it. Additionally, we will work with you to find a CGC certified trainer should you request it.
Persons who adopt an animal are encouraged to become a member of HSSC to ensure the continued sustainability of the organization, however this is not required.
Payment for adoptions are due at the time of receipt of the animal. HSSC does not make payment arrangements for adoptions.
Adoption Fees
Dogs : $175 -$250. The price will vary according to age, size, and other factors per each individual dog.
Cats under 1 year old : $75.
Cats over 1 year : $50.
Special needs animals are a case by case fee. Please speak to a member of the staff for more information.
