Marty FIV+'s Story...
Hello, my name is Marty. I was found by a kind lady on a warm summer day. I was very hungry and thin. I came to Bedford Humane Society where I was given a comfy place to sleep and all the food I could eat. As you can see I have plumped out rather well and you can no longer feel my ribs. I went for a checkup and they found that I was positive for FIV. I am around 5 years old and would love a home of my own. I do have a cute roommate named Michaela, she is also positive for FIV, but she wants to eat my food! I need a home with other FIV positive cats or by myself as a single cat. If you would like to meet me or my cute roommate Michaela call 540-586-6100 or e-mail michelle@bhsva.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marty FIV+, a Bedford American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Bedford, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Bedford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bedford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bedford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bedford paves the way for another one to be saved.
