Squirt's Story...
Squirt is an approximately 5 year old spayed, brown and white, 12 pound healthy female. She is UTD on shots and had a dental on January 23, 2013. She is completely housebroken and crate trained and can be left alone at home outside of her crate. She is quiet, has a happy disposition, loves car rides, and will stay in a bed in the seat next to you. She loves going on walks, will sit for you to put her harness and leash on and will sit up for treats. Squirt loves playing outside, she will play fetch & bring the ball back to you, she also loves lounging in the sun on nice days. She has a gentle mouth when taking treats. She must have a wooden fenced yard, because she will climb up and over other fences, not to run away, just because she can! She gets along with dogs and cats in the home, she prefers women, but will tolerate men. We will not place her in a home with children, although she has not had any problems with my grandchildren. She is the perfect companion dog (and I mean literally she is nearly a perfect dog) who is looking for a “furever” lap to sit in. I would love to see her get either an adult only home or even better yet a single woman home. I hope some kind person will give her a chance to be their best friend, you won’t regret it! Her adoption fee is $200. For more information, please contact her foster Mom in Mount Vernon, WA at digsdogs@frontier.com or paulab10@yahoo.com

We do not do same day adoptions unless you are preapproved. Adoption application with references checked & a home visit are required. We do many special events during the year, so check our calendar on our website: www.chihuahuarescueandreferrals.com

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a group of volunteers that take in unwanted, abandoned or homeless Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. We take care of any Vet needs they may have and evaluate them as to temperament and likes and dislikes. We then match people to dogs and after completing our adoption process we send the dogs to their Forever Homes where they will be loved and valued as a family member.

We operate on donations and always have a need for things like leashes, harnesses, dishes, high quality dog food, beds, blankets and most importantly FOSTER HOMES!

***ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE***

We organized in 2005 and CR&R is registered as a non-profit charitable organization in Washington State & has Federal 501(c)(3) STATUS. We have successfully re-homed over 250 dogs!

Please contact each foster home where a dog lives that you are interested in to make an appointment to meet them. We participate in various events throughout the year where we show off our adoptable dogs.

Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fees vary depending on the age and health of the dogs. We require that an adoption application be completed with at least two personal references and one Vet reference. We also do home checks to be sure the dog will go to a safe environment. Our Adoption Contract assures that the dogs will be cared for and if they cannot remain with the new family they MUST be returned to us.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Squirt, a Clear Lake Chihuahua/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Dachshund for sale in Clear Lake, or seeking a Chihuahua/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Clear Lake.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Clear Lake already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Clear Lake breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Dachshund breeders who help with Chihuahua/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Clear Lake paves the way for another one to be saved.
