Rescue Group Info...
FEH is a non-profit, volunteer run cat rescue serving the Southern Tier. We are funded through donations and fundraising.
Our animals are treated as “one of the family” in foster homes, which helps them stay adjusted to a home setting.
Our mission to reduce the number of homeless animals in Broome and Chenango Counties. Our focus is on orphaned baby kittens. We have several foster homes that are able to give the around the clock care that they need and have been trained in newborn kitten care.
We also have a program called P.A.C.T (Pets Are Children Too) focused on helping families keep their pets during an economic crisis by assisting with basic supplies and medical care.
The first step to giving one of our cats a
furr-ever home is to complete an adoption survey which focuses on the qualities you are looking for in a cat. We will then discuss with you which pet would be the best match for your household and answer any questions you may have.
If you are local to Binghamton, NY, we will then bring the animal to your home to meet you and other family members. The adoption may be done at this time or a few days later.
If you live more than 45 minutes from Binghamton, we ask that you come here to pick up the animal. Since we will not do a home visit, we ask that you complete an application and we will check two personal references and a vet reference to make sure the adoption is a good match.
Most of our volunteers work full time in addition to volunteering with Furr-Ever Homes. We will do our best to check references and schedule home visits in a timely manner but please understand that it could take several days to a week to complete the adoption process.
The $100 adoption fee includes:
-Spay or Neuter
-All age appropriate vaccinations including:
-Initial Distemper Combo and Booster
-Rabies
-FIV/Leukemia Testing
-Flea and Worm Treatment (Revolution)
The first step to giving one of our cats a Furr-Ever Homes is to complete an adoption application. Applications can be obtained by emailing F.E.H. at furreverhomes@gmail.com.
We will call your veterinarian to verify that all current pets are vaccinated and altered. We will also call a personal reference to verify that your pets are loved and cared for and that another pet would be appropriate for your home.
If your application is approved, it is then time to meet your furry friend. We will bring the animal to your home to see how he/she responds to the new environment. If you and the volunteer are comfortable with the adoption, all adoption paper work will be completed at this time.
We are a non-profit cat rescue serving Broome and Chenango Counties. All of our animals are fostered in homes. We do not have a shelter building.
We are an entirely new group, and are currently working on becoming incorporated, fundraising and building a strong volunteer base.
