My name is Budski!
I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, not good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.
Buddy is a five year old black lab, pit, maybe some border collie mix. I picked him up from a shelter a few days before he was to be put down because he was considered unadoptable. My first few months with him were rough. He was untrusting and defensive – the natural reaction of a dog who has been abused. He was/is ultra sensitive to fear from another, especially tall or large men. I have been working with him for three years and he has completely turned around. Whereas he used to pull me while on leash, he now trots along nice both on walks and when he’s with me on the bike. He has become very obedient and knows sit, down and stay. I make him sit before I give him his dinner or treats. When on our runs, he runs right by my side. We probably go 5 miles most mornings and he loves his swim in the ditch. So on top of being a great dog and best friend, he would also be a good protector I believe. Inside, he’ll beg for attention for awhile and then get bored and go lay down. If you pet or brush him, he will sit and take as much as you are willing to give. His fur is fine and you’ll avoid dust bunnies if you brush him regularly.
Because of his abuse he has some issues with children who don’t understand boundaries yet and large men. His adopter needs to be someone who is equal to Buddy’s intelligence and sensitive to his special personality. I love him and would keep him except he doesn’t get along with my male dog. I would like to see buddy go to a home where he is the only pet. He does chase after squirrels when they run and might do the same for a cat. A high energy person like a runner or biker who’s looking for companionship/protection is my ideal picture. I have fed him a high quality diet with a mix of kibble (Chicken Soup of the Soul), steamed vegetables and various meats. He also likes apples and lots of other fruit. He is completely house broken and rarely barks except when he knows I’m leaving and not taking him. On runs and bike rides, he’s good on or off leash and never runs away. He’s good in the car and likes to stick his head out the open window. He is a happy and grateful dog because he has been treated with love and respect. Looking for an adopter who is looking for a best friend and loyal companion
