I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Bernard is a 7 year old man that was saved by Almost Home from the shelter in February 2013. His previous owners didn’t take good care of him and he ended up at the shelter several times. Bernard gets along well with all mammals and is a easy-going, low-maintenance dog. He is sure to love any family who gets the pleasure of adopting him!
FAVORITE THINGS: Sleeping, belly rubs, and meal time.
LEAST FAVORITE THINGS: Baths
DOGS: Quite the socialite.
CATS: Has not been around them in his foster home, but those he has seen in other homes he gets along well with.
KIDS: Would love to have kids to give him belly rubs. He will return the favor with sloppy kisses.
HOUSETRAINED: 98% - Bernard has wet the bed a couple times since being in his new foster home. However, he knows outside is the proper spot to potty and is usually the perfect gentleman.
OBEDIENCE TRAINING: Bernard knows how to “sit,” and is working on executing other commands as well.
CRATE: Above-average ROCKSTAR in his crate!
LEASH: No problem!
DROOL: Mild drool factor.
PERKS & QUIRKS: Bernard loves to sleep in and if he wakes up and sees you’re still sleeping he will go back to bed.
HEALTH STATUS: Bernard had double perineal hernia repair in February 2013 and has been recovering seamlessly. Bernard also has an enlarged prostate. Bernard’s doctor says some of these issues came from him not getting neutered until late in life. In March 2013 he also had a couple bumps removed from his man parts as well as a few teeth removed. He has had his stitches out and should be running full speed ahead by mid-April.
ENERGY LEVEL: Pretty lazy boy, but you can rile him up if you want to play! He is gaining energy as he gains strength and is getting healthier, but does tire quite easily.

We are a private, volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of unwanted, neglected, and abandoned pets. We specialize in boxers, but for the perfect home we can help you find the perfect pet, or point you to a rescue who can. We provide food, shelter, medical attention, and TLC during our rescues wait for the "RIGHT" forever home.
All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the valley - we do not have a shelter that you can visit. Once you submit an application, your references are checked and the home visit is complete, we will contact you to set up a satisfactory meeting place for a get-together with your potential adoptive pet.
Our dogs are cared for in foster homes during this wait. We try to have them in a foster home environment for at least 2 weeks. They are temperament tested to the best of our ability to ensure a perfect match into their new home. Our number one concern is for the safety of the adoptive family and the happiness of the pet. We strive for a FOREVER placement - not all dogs are perfect for all families. We don't want to place "A" dog in your home - we want to place "THE" dog for your family!
We can't save every dog but we can make a difference...one dog at a time!
We are desperately seeking foster homes for our wonderful dogs! We also accept used crates or donations of any kind!
Please contact us about a specific pet - we do not have a shelter facility. All pets are in foster homes around the state of Arizona.
We prefer e-mail to cut down on cell phone minute usage! Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed, references are checked, and a home visit is done. If approved, we will contact you about the dog you are interested in. We want to place these dogs with the "RIGHT" families so it may take a bit to find that dog for you, please be patient.
We adopt within the state of Arizona or surrounding areas where there is no active boxer rescue.
