Lady's Story...
Lady might be a Schipperke mix with tail. But more than anything else, this 4 year old looks like a cross between a small border collie and a black bear cub! Weighing 21 pounds, she still has a few more to lose. Lady spent her entire life flea-infested, unspayed, and tied to a short cable outside during the days and in a storeroom at night. She didn't receive any vet care and was never touched by human hands.

Despite all of this, Lady has adapted to life in her foster home and has been a quick study on sit, stay, and wait as well as housetraining. She adores walks and is quite gentle. A glutton for attention, she will try to herd the other 3 dogs in the household away so she can be petted; she loves belly rubs and lying in your lap upside-down. Lady can be left alone without showing any signs of separation anxiety and will sleep in her crate at night, but she thrives on human attention. Lady would be happiest in a home without other dogs where she doesn't have to compete for attention.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lady, a San Francisco Schipperke dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schipperke for sale in San Francisco, or seeking a Schipperke dog from a breeder in San Francisco.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Francisco already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Francisco breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schipperke breeders who help with Schipperke rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Francisco paves the way for another one to be saved.
