Minnie and Skippy's Story...
Minnie and Skippy are two Cockatiels, who are not tame but are sweet birds nonetheless. Both birds like to sing and whistle. With gentle training they have the potential to learn to step up and become tamer. They don't bite while handled.

Minnie and Skippy just need love and attention, and they would make very nice companions.

Minnie's and Skippy's approximate hatch dates are Minnie, 1997; Skippy, 2000. Their adoption fee is $50 for both birds.

For information on some of the characteristics of these birds, see this Species Profile page: http://www.staravian.org/species_profiles.html#Cockatiel

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Minnie and Skippy, a St. Louis Cockatiel was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatiel for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Cockatiel from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatiel breeders who help with Cockatiel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
