Andy - PENDING, in Maine's Story...
March 2013 update: Andy's Maine foster mom tells us, "Andy continues to settle in and more of his personality is showing. He is an awesome dog, no doubt, super sweet, loves to be outside, smart & mischievous. He & my dog Grace are doing well together, they love playing!. Gracie is even sharing some of her toys with him which for Gracie is a big deal. I think Andy would be good at agility training. I have discovered he can jump pretty well. He will jump on top of his crate to see what I'm doing in kitchen if I have him in another room. He would really like to be a lap dog but i am gently dissuading him from that idea. LOL I have started taking him for short car rides to help him feel more comfortable in the car. I make sure he gets to do something fun when we get to our destination. He has found his voice. He & Grace like to stand on the deck and chat with the other dogs in the neighborhood. He is more confident when we are out for our walks & i think Grace is a big part of that- for Gracie everyone she meets is a friend. At first Andy would hide behind my legs when he met someone on our walk, now he goes right up to greet with Gracie. He knows a couple of our neighbors now & always wags his tail at them & will even stop at their house to wait and see if they come outside. He is getting used to being in the crate when I leave & at night. Andy loves to snuggle up close when you lay on floor next to him. I've also been working on getting him to sit and wait. Whoever adopts this pup is very lucky. He's a great dog. He would be a good therapy dog as well with his calm demeanor and love of people."

March 2013 update - handsome Andy is a terrific medium size dog who absolutely loves his foster sister Gracie (she is a Lucky Pup alum also)! His foster mom says, "He is such a sweet, gentle boy. He loves to play with Grace and loves to snuggle. We met some of Grace's canine friends in the neighborhood yesterday and he did well. The owner of the other 3 dogs was even surprised at how calm and sweet Andy was after only being here a short time."

Andy is a delightful Labrador Retriever mix and is about 18 months old. His shiny black coat has beautiful white markings. Andy looks forward to long, daily walks around the dog park trail with our southern rescue partners. He is housebroken and is learning to play fetch! Andy has a happy-go-lucky, loving personality and enjoys affection and attention and giving kisses.

His former family say that he is good with children and also gets along with other dogs. He hasn't had a cat test yet but he is a 45 lb bundle of joy!

Andy was turned in to one of our southern rescue partners and you probably know that as a black dog he has little chances for adoption there.

To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Andy - PENDING, in Maine, a kennebunkport Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in kennebunkport, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in kennebunkport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in kennebunkport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a kennebunkport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in kennebunkport paves the way for another one to be saved.
