Ruff Ruff! My name is Izzy

While Izzy is now a happy and playful dog, she is working on overcoming is her separation anxiety, and need help gaining confidence with new situations and in large public environments. To aid with her separation and social anxiety, Izzy is on a stable anti anxiety medication regiment, and will need to stay on her medication plan for now. As she grows more confident and calm in a consistent home, her medication may be reduced. Her daycare exercise routine in conjunction with medication works wonders with her ability to self regulate and gain confidence, as we have seen her blossom with this combination!

Izzy is currently in process of learning basic commands, and happily shows off ‘sit’ and ‘down’ for treats, as well as coming when called! Basic obedience classes would be recommended in order for her to reach her full potential, and Izzy loves to learn.

For now, we do not recommend Izzy for dog parks, but with more training and stability dog parks may be in her future. She plays well with dogs of all ages, but is still learning proper play etiquette and not all dogs understand this. She has come a long way but is still learning proper “dog language”. All of the dogs at Northwest Kennels daycare have been temperament assessed and proven compatible, which cannot be said for strange dogs at public parks. Northwest Kennels would be happy to give Izzy 6 months of FREE daycare, to help her adjust to her new home while providing a sense of familiarity and routine!

Izzy is a non discriminating human lover! She is good with men, females, and dog educated kids, but new people need to go slow and let Izzy come to them. This girl loves to cuddle, play with toys, and does great with car rides. She is treat motivated and walks great on a leash!!

We have seen her focus with intensity with small animals, and although she hasn’t had a negative encounter with other animals, we would recommend a small dog/small animal free home. With large dogs she may be shy at first but has not shown signs of leash aggression, and is eager to be everyone’s friend.

Izzy will thrive in a household committed to creating a stable and consistent environment for her, while providing her with opportunities to succeed and patience while she adjusts. This lucky home will be rewarded with the loyalty and unconditional love pitties are famous for!
