Squeaky's Story...
Squeaky was found fending for himself on the streets of Baton Rouge, LA and brought to the local animal shelter. No dog thrives there, but small dogs like Squeaky, a chihuahua mix, are at a greater disadvantage. A docile and cute little guy, Squeaky is being fostered in a private home where he quickly learned that the cat in the house is the commander in chief who makes the rules by which all other four legged creatures wisely abide. He mixes well with the resident dogs, big and small, and will leap deer-like into their midst, tumbling and rumbling about, then will quietly remove himself from the games and gently settle on any available lap. His too large alert ears droop, he closes his caramel colored eyes that match his rich coat color, and his sturdy little body relaxes - so thankful to be cared for. Full grown at approximately 2 years of age, Squeaky is neutered and fully vetted. Having been a stray, it is no surprise that the little man is heartworm positive, but he will be treated for heartworms courtesy of Friends of the Animals, Baton Rouge. Once you meet Squeaky, you will agree with the old adage - "Good things come in small packages." Squeaky is available for adoption through Friends of the Animals, Baton Rouge and his adoption fee is $100.00. To meet this adorable and gentle little man, please contact his foster mom at 225-335-5921 or by email at opcenter5@cox.net.

Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
