Koho is a 7 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. We find it hard to believe she is 7. She has lots of energy and had no problem with a two mile run with me yesterday, She was ready to go for more. She has picked up using the doggie door with a little effort and treats as encouragement. She is sweet and gentle as long as you don’t try to take her toys from her. She does not like that and for that reason she would not do well with children. She does not like to be picked up. It was a challenge to get her into the bathtub for a shampooing but with the help of a treat or two she climbed in. Once in she was so easy to shampoo and clean up, she actually enjoyed it.
She knows the basic commands but could use some work on reinforcing them. She likes couches and beds if you let your pets on them. We don’t and she has been very receptive to us saying no.
She loves her people! She warmed up to both of us immediately and has shown us affection ever since we picked her up at the airport! She loves rides in the truck!
She does not like other dogs or pets. She is not aggressive toward them unless if they come up to her. For the most part she just ignores them. We encountered several loose dogs on our runs and she doesn’t even look at them until they come up and try to sniff her. Then she politely gives them a growl.
If someone would give her a little more training and love she will be happy to please you and love you back! Please help her find her forever home.
