My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dawson!

He is currently about 11 weeks old and weighs about 20 pounds, with some pretty big feet to grow into. Although we just don't know for sure what his adult size will be, potential adopters should plan on a large dog (60 pounds or perhaps quite a bit more). He has already been neutered and microchipped and had his first puppy shots. He has a brother who we are currently calling Willy.
He is extremely bright and very food motivated. He should do well with obedience training if he is well-exercised and calm when he is worked with.

Dawson is not housebroken yet, but he is progressing well. He is a very loving and affectionate puppy and gets along well with other dogs and with cats. He can be a bit shy when he first meets someone new, but warms up very quickly. He does get very distressed when kenneled or otherwise separated from his people. He can be extremely vocal in these situations and has difficulty calming down. His foster home is working on slowly and positively reinforcing kennel training and his
new home will need to be extremely calm, patient, and committed to positive reinforcement to help him become comfortable by himself, especially when kenneled. Dawson would do best in a home with someone who will be able to spend a lot of time with him, or another dog to help keep him company.

If you are interested in Dawson, please submit the ADPR adoption questionnaire via email to Kim at kstanford@alaska.net . Home visits will be scheduled with potential matches prior to final placement to make sure that Dawson goes to his forever home. This boy is quite popular so please be patient as we try to get back with everyone!
