My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TOOT. TOOT TOOT TOOOOOOT! We are here to blow our own horns.....deservedly so. We are affectionately known as the P Street Pups because we were discovered in a rubble pile next to the railroad tracks in Ft. Smith, ARK......wait for it now....ok ... all together now: on P Street!

I make light, but there was nothing ‘light’ about it. Two Ahimsa Rescue Angels—Cheryl and Richard—spent days doing what Richard calls ‘due diligence’: surveying, studying, staying, eating chocolate while waiting, bringing food, coming closer/closer/closer, bringing ‘traps,’ coming closer.....Gotcha! One down.

Continue: coming back several times each day whether rain, sleet, snow, or tornado warnings—yes, that too. Never giving up. Gotcha. Gotcha!! Gotcha!!! Three out of four! Our sister Basha remains with the Railroad Pack which has been at P Street for a loooong time. But Ahimsa will not give up. Never will. That is the Ahimsa Rescue Motto/Mantra: Never give up!

BUT, forward: We are in Puppy Lodge, as it is sometimes called. Or Puppy Land. Or Puppy Heaven. It is actually Angel Cheryl’s kitchen....with other rescued puppies. If you want to see videos of our attacking Auntie Cheryl’s ferocious bedroom slipper or pictures of our cave on P Street, you can go to https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/AhimsaRescueFoundation and view those with pleasure and amazement.

Our followers say our capture was more engrossing and engaging than Downton Abby....now that is saying a lot. We instantly changed from cave dwellers to hug bunnies, once we were placed in human arms. P Street is only the vaguest memory...but we will remember Basha and kiss her face once she is rescued as well.

SCOUT: Let me introduce myself-- I am the mighty Scout; I stood upon the rubble of our home and surveyed the land, the people who kept creeping closer—hmmmm, they didn’t smell dangerous—I , like my siblings, am about ½ Rottweiler and ½ Antolian Shepherd, as far as the Humans can surmise. I am fearless, funny, loving, furry, fabulous: TOOT, TOOT.

COPPER: I am named for my coloring and the local Animal Control Officer, who was helpful in the area where we lived. Ours was a story of the ages.....well, at least, the most exciting thing to happen on P Street in quite a while. I was the first to venture out of our rubble home (?), and SHHHHH (I am Angel Richard’s favorite....sssshhhhh.) I, too, will be a big, handsome, brilliant dog. I love to play, tumble, rumble, scurry, hurry....to nowhere...just hurry/scurry, slide upon the kitchen floor, play tag, attack bedroom slippers, kiss faces—furry or not—and just simply, Be Sweet. I am your dream dog.....right, Richard?! Or Dude Man, as I sometimes call him.

AND I AM PRETTY PENNY: (Up front....I SEEM to be Angel Cheryl’s favorite; listen to her voice on the video. Hear that sweet Southern accent come out when she talks baby talk to me??!! I love it!). I was named for a very nice woman called Penny and because my bro was named Copper.....Copper Penny. But mainly I am called Pretty Penny because it simply fits. I am so sweet and wag my wee tail in the cutest way. Right, Auntie Cheryl? Oh, yes, I do! Doesn’t my name just go together? Pretty Penny of P Street. I have the cutest ears in the WORLD: TOOT. TOOT! I am a little shy, very sweet, submissive to the BIG personalities of Scout and Copper and will make the best pet ever! EVER! Doesn’t finding a new Penny bring luck? Well, you can find a brand new bright copper Penny right here at Ahimsa and , boy, will you have a story to tell—the P Street Pup Story. We deserve our very own documentary. It will win Sundance, uh huh!

We have a Reader’s Digest Story to tell: from rags to riches, from defeat to victory, from nothing to EVERYTHING, from rubble to .......your home? We are the P Street Pups and have groupies on Facebook who follow our every puppy tail/tale. Won’t you be our Forever Groupie?

We are a symbol of the Ahimsa Rescue spirit: volunteers who are selfless, committed, full of heart and compassion, dedicated, and devoted to helping the vulnerable and voiceless. And we were vulnerable. Please pass the word along about the P Street Pups and Ahimsa.

TOOT. TOOT. TOOOOOT. We are the best pups you will ever find. We will be large, so don’t expect a dog you can put under the seat on the airplane! We will be majestic, magical, mystical dogs for you. TOOT.

Scout, Copper, and Pretty Penny
