My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Diego, but his foster mom calls him Shorty so we are going to give him a whole makeover on the sites with a new name, new bio, and new pics. Shorty has been in Rescue longer than anyone else-hoping this will help find him a home soon-he deserves it!

"I love Shorty!" says his foster mom…and so does everyone else that meets this sweet little man! Shorty has blossomed in the last few months as his low thyroid condition was diagnosed and treated. No longer tired, he just prances around the house with his ears up to better hear you.

At 9 years old, Shorty is beyond the active, silly stage that makes a young IG a lot of work. Shorty walks well on a leash, is good with other iggies (especially the girls) and is also great with cats. In his current foster home, he is not much of a lap dog but that may be due to the one available lap being claimed by the resident iggies! Without a doubt, Shorty would be a great companion for another IG. No guarantees, but in the right home with a patient person, he may become a great human lap warmer too.

Shorty takes an inexpensive supplement twice a day to keep his thyroid levels at a good number. He doesn’t say too much and sure doesn’t take up much space with his tiny little handsome self. Shorty does have a healed break in his lower jaw where the bone is not connected on one side. It does not bother him and he eats a soft diet without ANY problems at all. He came to Rescue with a not so great start in life but has really learned that there are great people that love him and will always take care of him. Shorty loves his foster mom and all that she has done for him, but he truly wants to find his forever home soon.
