Rescue Group Info...
Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Inc is an all-volunteer, non-profit, adoption-guarantee rescue group for companion animals. Most of our animals are saved from the euthanasia list at Alachua County Animal Services, our county's only open-admission municipal shelter.
We work to end euthanasia in our local shelters through a high volume of rescues and adoptions.
Helping Hands strives to provide the best possible outcomes for homeless animals facing certain death by rescuing as many of them as possible and finding them the best homes possible.
Helping Hands pairs people and pets with complementary lifestyles and needs, and educates owners on veterinary and behavioral care for long, happy lives.

To adopt an animal from Helping Hands, you must:
1. Send an inquiry email regarding the availability of the pet you are interested in. Any questions you have will be answered and an application will be emailed to you.
2. Return the completed adoption application.
3. Come meet the pet at one of our adoption events. If we agree that he/she will be a good fit for your home, we are able to complete the adoption on the spot. You will receive all medical records at the time of adoption as well as a list of local veterinarians who will examine the pet at no charge within one week of adoption.
Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Inc requires all applicants to be at least 21 years of age.
Adoption fees vary according to species, age, length of time in our adoption program, medical expenses acquired while in rescue, and sponsorship. All pets come spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm negative (dogs), tested for FELV and FIV (cats), and current on heartworm prevention and flea control.
The average fee to adopt a dog or puppy is $125, but can range from $50-$250.
The average fee to adopt a cat is $50, but we often have special reduced fees at our adoption events.
The average fee to adopt a kitten is $75.
Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Inc focuses our efforts primarily on animals in Alachua County. The majority of our animals come from the euthanasia list at Alachua County Animal Services. We also take animals from surrounding counties if needed.
Helping Hands Pet Rescue, Inc does not require that an adopter be local. However, the potential adopter must meet the animal in person before being allowed to adopt.
