Willow's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Willow's Story...
"Willow" is a 1-yo spayed female GSD who is sweet and energetic. Willow is very devoted to her person and friendly with strangers. She is also gentle with children. Willow is great w/ other dogs--submissive if anything. She is very good with the three indoor cats that she lives with--she does not chase them. Willow's frame is quite small as GSDs go, but she is stocky and strong for her size. She has an unusual brown sable coat, and does not have as thick an undercoat as most GSDs, so she reportedly does not shed as much! (It's possible that Willow is a GSD/Belgian Malinois mix, which would account for her smaller stature and coat color.) She weighs about 50 lbs.

Willow is still full of puppy-like energy, and would do well in a home where she is exercised frequently and for long periods of time. She would probably be good at agility sport. She would also do well in a home with another dog to play with. Willow is calm in the house, but she is kept outside when her people are gone. Willow does well on a leash and rides very calmly in a car.

Willow's caretaker Dianne took her in from Lake County Animal Control (LCAC) in early September 2012 when she was literally giving birth! Willow had found a place in somebody's yard to deliver her puppies, and when Animal Control came to pick her up, she was already whelping. Dianne had fostered dogs for LCAC before, so they called her and she came and picked up Willow during her birthing process. Though Willow was emaciated at the time, all of her seven puppies survived!

Dianne had planned to keep Willow, but she already has a female GSD who does not welcome Willow into her home. GSRSV has evaluated Willow and is placing her as a "Program Dog." This means that GSRSV is seeking a new home for Willow through its adoption program while her caretaker continues to care for her. Willow's adoption fee is $250.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Willow, a Pleasant Grove German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Pleasant Grove, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Pleasant Grove.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pleasant Grove already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pleasant Grove breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pleasant Grove paves the way for another one to be saved.
