Jack's Story...
JACK is a friendly and playful 14-week-old Collie mix puppy. He is 25 lbs. and will likely be a large dog when he grows up. Jack tries very hard not to go to the bathroom in his kennel, so he is almost housebroken. He plays well with other puppies and adult dogs.

A college student left Jack at her grandparents' house and returned to school. Jack ignored their cats and while playful with their Pomeraniums, he sometimes accidentally injured them because he is so much larger than they are. The grandparents were unable to care for Jack when their granddaughter did not return for him, so they contacted Dogs Forever to help find Jack a home.

Because Jack is not yet old enough to neuter, we are looking for a foster-to-adopt home that will care for him until he is old enough to neuter. Once that surgery is performed, the foster home can adopt Jack.

Jack's adoption fee is on a sliding scale of $125-$175; you pay the amount that's right for you.
If you would like more information on this handsome boy, contact joibergman@yahoo.com or 319-310-2107. YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN 100 MILES OF CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, TO ADOPT JACK.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jack, a Cedar Rapids Collie puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a Collie puppy from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie breeders who help with Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
