SAVANA's Story...
SAVANA NOTE: NEW PICTURES AT 41 DAYS OLD! SAVANA is a silver blue dapple, AKC, no papers. Our criteria for puppies are more restrictive, because they have extensive needs. The ideal home will have one of the following: retired, work from home, minimal work hours or stay at home parent. With a young puppy, training, bonding, security and time is crucial in developing your bond. Adopter must sign legal contract to spay/neuter at 5.5 months, the cost of which is not included in adoption fee. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

SAVANA, a Portland Dachshund puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Portland, or seeking a Dachshund puppy from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
