Snickers's Story...

Snickers male 9.5 lb Shih Tzu baby at 1-2 years old.   He is totally a lap dog and a little lovebug.  His match is  someone patient and experienced without kids who can teach him manners and build his confidence. He was neglected in his first year so he needs a patient owner to keep working with him.  We can explain more in a phone interview.  He learned to dance on the first try.  Definitely will be the star of a positive obedience class. He is very food motivated.  He comes on command, is housetrained and crate trained.  He is good on the leash and riding in the car. He is good with other dogs.  A patient adult family would be perfect!

Snickers Favorites:

Sunning on the deck

Lounging on your lap

Going on WALKS

Going anywhere you go!

Eating! Loves food!

Playing and cuddling

Loves when you baby talk.  it makes him happy!

NOTE: Reduced Adoption Fee for Snicker

Information on Adoption Fees-

The adoption fee is $325 for adult dogs and $350 for dogs under a year old.

The adoption fee helps to partially cover the following procedures completed for all CHR dogs over 6 months old- Neuter/Spay, Distemper Shot, Rabies Shot, Heart worm Test, Fecal Test, Bordetella Vaccine if dog is boarded, & De-worming if recommended. In addition we provide Heart Worm preventative administered every month, and Frontline Flea preventative. Additional procedures that we provide as needed include blood tests and full dental care. Most adult dogs need a dental cleaning upon rescue. CHR spends more than $500 in veterinarian care on a majority of our Rescue dogs require despite a big Rescue Dog Discount from our vet!!  For dogs under 6 months old CHR provides several de-wormings with fecal test,  Distemper Shots and Rabies shot.   The Spay and Neuter is not covered by CHR and will have to be completed by the adopter when the puppy is 6 months old.  CHR will provide information on clinics offering the Spay/Neuter surgery for a discounted fee.  Thanks so much for your interest in a Rescued Dog.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Caring Hearts Rescue is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization based in Fairfax Virginia. Our volunteers rescue toy breed dogs from desperate situations including neglect, puppy mill rescue, owner surrender and euthanasia by animal shelters due to overpopulation. All of our rescued dogs stay in safe foster homes while they await their "forever home." Our rescued babies are examined and given inoculations and spayed or neutered before placement. We search for families that understand the responsibility of being a Guardian to these little guys and consider them members of the family.
Come Meet Our Pets...
CHR facilitates all the meetings with your rescued dog. Potential adopters will make arrangements with a CHR representative to meet your foster dog. We then contact the foster parent to arrange a meeting at a convenient location for the foster parent.
Our Adoption Process...
The first step is filling out a application at the following address http://www.caringheartsrescue.org/Adopt.html . Click on the apply button under the dog you are interested in.

If you have pets, you will be required to provide medical records for your current pets as proof that they are up to date on vaccines, spayed or neutered and on heart worm preventative. We will contact you after this first step is completed. Thank you very much for your time!

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Caring Hearts Rescue will only adopt out of the Washington DC Metropolitan area: Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.
