My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winston is not available for adoption

Winston is fostered in Mentor Ohio

Freckles are splashed across his nose, and his deep ginger coat is casually tousled, giving Winston that easy wash ‘n wear look. He loves going for walks, and although he enjoys playing with other dogs, can play too energetically for some.

Strictly a one-person pet, he is intensely loyal and extremely loving towards that person, in this case, his experienced, longtime foster mom. Theirs is a relationship built on mutual acceptance and respect, in which Winston rolls over for belly rubs or raises his front paws to be hugged, then showers her with kisses.

But he’s also a young spaniel with a strong stubborn streak, highly sensitive and easily provoked, and unless handled knowledgeably and properly, can prove difficult to control. Seeming to randomly choose whom he does and doesn’t like,

Winston can nip or bite if he feels threatened, yet his foster mom knows precisely how to manage and curtail these behaviors. And so, we are actively seeking an experienced adopter who is Cocker savvy, well versed in the handling and training of willful but trainable cockers like Winston.

We are also asking that his adoptive home is one with no children and no other pets. With time, patience and persistence, Winston will develop into the Winston he was meant to be, non-reactive and all loving.

Winston is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and is heartworm negative.
