Zoey's Story...
Zoey was found wandering alone in a parking lot at a local PetSmart store. She is a purebred German Shepherd about 1 year old. Everyone who meets her and sees her photo remarks upon what a beautiful girl she is. When she was found she was in a state of neglect, very thin and wearing an old beat-up puppy collar that was on it's last hole and still a couple of sizes too small. Whatever her history, though, Zoey was definitely cared for at some point because she is fully house trained and clearly prefers being in a house with people to being out in the backyard.

Zoey is a sweet, gangly, goofy girl who is still very much a puppy. She will fill out more and needs to learn her basic commands, as well as improve her loose leash walking. Like many young dogs, she has a tendency to jump when excited but she is respectful of people and easy to correct. She enjoys playing with stuffed animals and with other dogs. She is not an alpha dog though she does enjoy rough-housing with other dogs. She probably has not lived with cats before so will need to be introduced slowly to them.

Zoey is a people-pleaser who loves nothing more than to spend time with her humans as they watch TV, make dinner and do other things around the house. She is smart and enjoys clicker training and going on long walks. She will make a great pet for someone who will take care of her and treat her like the special lady she is.

Zoey is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested. Her adoption fee is $125. Email to meet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zoey, a Houston German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Houston, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
