I am up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Skippy is an adorable, fuzzy male Collie or Aussie Shepherd mixed with Husky. Born around Christmas, Skippy is still pretty small, and will probably weigh around 40 lbs when he is grown. A happy, friendly little pup, Skippy absolutely loves other dogs, and is not afraid of the big dogs in his foster home, so he would do well with another active canine friend to play with. He is good with children, but energy and quick movements might be too much for kids under 6. And he is definitely energetic! Skippy loves to chew, and loves to play, play, play. While Skippy is doing very well with his house training, like any puppy, he will need an adopter who is home much of the day to continue with training and socialization. He is crate-trained, up-to-date with shots, and will need to be neutered when he is old enough.
PLEASE NOTE: HHARG does not have a shelter or other physical location. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes.
If you are interested in a dog, please first review our adoption policies and procedures and fees, and then fill out our online adoption application.
Please do not email us to ask if a dog is available. If the dog is on our website, he or she is available. We are an all-volunteer group, and our time is limited. Answering emails about availability only slows down the process of processing applications.

Rescue Group Info...
Healing Hearts Animal Rescue Group is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned, special needs and senior companion animals from high-kill shelters. We also rescue special needs and senior horses, as well as those who are headed to slaughter, or from owners who are no longer able to care for them. Please note that HHARG does not have a shelter or other physical location. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes.
We also serve as a resource to the public and to pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, good nutrition and preventative medical care.
Please note that HHARG does not have a shelter or other physical location. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes.
Our adoption events are currently held at Pet Supplies Plus in Centreville, on the second Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Check our website at http://www.healingheartsrescuegroup.org/upcoming-events for other events.
Our adoption fee for dogs is $300, and for horses is $500.
We require an application, personal meeting with the animal, veterinary and landlord references if applicable. Home visits are done after this process is complete.

Due to our home visit policy, we adopt out only to the Northern Virginia area.
